GWR (“old pattern” / broad gauge)

These point levers (referred to in the manufacturers’ catalogues as “old pattern” were introduced in the late 1800s and were photographed still in service in 1931 and no doubt some lasted even longer. Photographs show the lever with and without the counterweight. Presumably without the counterweight it was operating sprung points, the counterweight being added to “assist” or force the points into position. To operate parallel to the tracks a crank had to be used and this is included in the etch.
