Platform Luggage Barrow (4mm)

This type of barrow (similar in appearance to a market barrow) was extremely common on all station platforms. Even the smallest stations had at least two per platform, invariably parked tipped up on end. Exactly when it was introduced is not known but the earliest photographs of stations almost always show something very similar. Photos taken in the late 60s still show them to be common, but they begin to trail off numerically in the 70s and 80s. During SR days, as they came up for maintenance, the spoked wheels were replaced by solid wheels with rubber tyres.
