12 Ton Hopper

The 12T hoppers were built in considerable numbers (420) between 1893 and 1901. Mainly fitted with grease axleboxes with dust protection plate covers over them. From about 1897 oil boxes were fitted. They had one sided lever brakes and low hoppers with hardly any flat side.
They were all extensively re-built between 1902 - 1906 into high sided, 20T capacity, hoppers and allocated Diagram No. P7.
