LSWR/SR Horseboxes

These kits cover the 16’ boxes built between 1892 and 1904 having three basic body types plus two types of underframes, and several minor options. The earliest version, of 1892/3 (Drg 314), had a wooden body with wide planks and a very simple brake applying to one wheel only. The largest batches were built between 1892 and 1904 and used two body types with wide and narrow planks and underframes with either straight or skew brakes. Handbrakes were originally fitted one side only but many were later equipped with handbrakes both sides.

Further information can be found in “Vol 3 LSWR Carriages” (p99-105) by Gordon Weddell.
